Both for-life prizes are annuities guaranteed for a minimum of 20 years. If the winner dies inside that period, the balance of the guaranteed payments goes to their beneficiary or estate. The cash payout can be taken instead — the choice is final and cannot be reversed — and where more than one ticket wins that same for-life tier, the cash payout is the only option.
